Moving In
Moving into a home or property that already has Rocky Gas Co-op service? Here's how to put the account in your name, what to have ready, and what to know once you're settled.
Tell us before you move
Call us at least 5 business days before you take possession, so service is in your name — and a meter read is ready — on day one.
Call (403) 845-2766This page is for properties already connected to a gas line — when ownership changes or a new tenant moves in, the gas service transfers into the right name. If you're building, or you need a brand-new line run to the property, start at New Gas Service instead.
New owners: transferring service to your name
Bought a property on our system? Three steps put the gas account in your name, timed so you have heat from the day you take possession.

Call us before you move
Get in touch at least 5 business days before you take possession by calling (403) 845-2766. Have the details from the checklist ready when you call.

2
We read the meter on possession day
We'll send someone out so an actual start read is taken at the same time you take possession, and your billing starts from that opening read.

3
Sign your contract and become a member
You'll provide proof of purchase (your title) and sign a current customer contract. There are no transfer fees. A Co-op membership is required — a one-time $1 — and it's what lets you vote at meetings and serve as a director.
Renting out your property?
When a tenant lives at the property, there are three ways the gas bill can be handled. Pick the one that works for you and the member.
Bills stay in the member's name
The member keeps the gas bills in their own name and makes the payments.
Renter pays a $400 deposit
The renter is billed in their own name and pays a $400 security deposit. It's refunded when they leave, less any amounts left owing.
Member signs a waiver, no deposit
The renter is billed in their own name with no security deposit, and the member signs a waiver accepting full responsibility if the renter leaves owing a balance.
Once you're settled in
Give us an emergency contact
If there's ever an emergency or gas outage, we may need to get into your home. Please give us the names and phone numbers of a few people who can let us in when you're away.
Keep your meter accessible
Our Automated Meter Reading (AMR) system reads your gas meter accurately every month without anyone entering your property. Meters must stay accessible at all times for meter reads, maintenance and emergencies.
