New Gas Service

Bringing natural gas to a property for the first time — what we call an infill. Here’s what your contract covers, what you’ll arrange, and how to claim a spot on this season’s build list.

Book your build

157days

Our build season runs frost-in to frost-out — roughly 157 days a year. We can only fill a limited number of infills each season.

Reserve your spot

When you apply for a brand-new gas service, full payment or financing is arranged before construction begins. Financing is now available for infills — call the office at (403) 845-2766 to talk through your options, or view current rates first.

What’s included — and what you’ll arrange

Your contract covers the line that carries gas to your meter. A handful of related pieces are yours to organize before we build.

Rocky Gas provides

  • The main service line, up to and including the main meter set
  • Installation, maintenance, and operation of that equipment
  • A serviceman on call 24 hours a day to repair it

All covered by your contract price.

You arrange

  • In-house piping
  • Yard system construction
  • Conversions
  • Material to connect to the meter (for example, a flex hose for a mobile home)
  • All applicable permits

These aren’t included in the contract price.

Before we break ground

Locate your private underground lines first

Before we start, it’s your responsibility to have every private underground facility in your yard located — sewer, power, water, and communications lines.

Alberta One-Call does not locate private underground lines. You’ll need to hire a third-party locator — for example Excalibur, TNT, or Hawkeye Line Locators — to mark them for you.

Moving an existing line

Line relocation

We can relocate gas lines on your property upon request; the cost of the relocation will be your responsibility.

Looking to heat a garage, shop, barn, or cabin instead? That’s a secondary gas line.
